WORST COMPANY EVER - DO NOT BUY WITH VACATION PRIVILEGES!!!!

We were approached by the most smooth talking saleswoman ever. The customer service is HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE WASTED SO MUCH MONEY!!!!! They lied about what we would get for our money (dropped the price from $47,000 to $1,700 - that should have been our #1 hint). Now if I ever need to book, I wait over two hours on the phone, get TRANSFERRED, THEN TRANSFERRED AGAIN ETC. It's an entire DAY just to get through. They are a JOKE. We have YET to go on vacation because "nothing seems to work out," "nothing's available" the prices are terrible. Oh, please just DON'T DO IT!!!!

Vidanta was an amazing resort. The presentation was ver long, but in the end we got a great deal $6800 and got out of our horrible Royal Sunset timeshare.

Jamie Benner was my sales rep and she was wonderful and professional. Everyone has a different experience; we share our good experiences too!

Guest

They lie. Worst company EVER.

JAMIE BENNER is a liar.

She will say anything to get a sale. I regret stepping foot in this place.

Guest

I think you are comparing apples with oranges. $47,000 appears to be the price of a studio unit for 100 years.

To clarify, $47,000 is the purchasing price for a studio, in addition you would be required to pay the annual maintenance fee for each use during the 100 years of ownership. $1,700 is most a sales incentive offer (you would receive accommodations for a week at any of the Vidanta Resorts (most likely a studio or a 1 bedroom) AND you would be required to attend a sales meeting (where the sales representative would attempt to sell you a regular membership at a locked-in price)). At the end of your redemption of the single use year certificate, you would receive no further benefits (if you decide not to purchase a regular membership). By the way, $1,700 for a single week of use is still far below the rate paid by hotel guests for a week.

You CANNOT expect availability during peak weeks (US Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and Easter).

Units may not be available, when there is a convention booked at the resort.

Nvpd Contract Vacation Privileges Review

Going through same mess as we bought the services contract only in 2015. Sometimes a lot of wrangling (squeaky wheel gets the grease) is necessary, but it should not be. I will not sign on again and yes the same representations were made to us. Good Luck!!!

Nightmare with a Texan

My husband and I went to Puerto Vallarta in 2004 we got hit with the timeshare, the thing that got my husband was a story of the Salesman grandfather that bought 2 Units and was renting them and had already bought himself a new tractor. Well we get back to the USA and listed our with 2 of the companies they recommended no luck. So in 2005 we go back to Puerto Vallarta sat thru the same time share just to see the Texan that lied to us, there is not enough space on here to tell you all what we have been thru, they stole from us, when you lie that is stealing, miss leading, fee's that we paid.

BEWERE OF ALL THE LIES OF THIS VACATION PRIVILEGES. Last summer July 2015 I went vacation to Puerto Penasco, Sonora, Mexico, when you are walking around the shopping center of this city there is people inviting you to a free breakfast to some new resort that is in construction right now, trying to sell you condominiums, after they were not successful in their first try, at the door someone stop you because they really want to take your money tell in you lies, is the way they can take away your money because if they tell you the true nobody will buy, the reason that I buy it is because they say I can go anywhere and stay for one week in a 5 star hotel and pay the amount of 399.00 for the hole week and not to long ago I call and ask about it and they said no that is not true, and she is trying to telling me that I am making this up and on top of that she is trying to sale more on the phone trying to charge 2,000 dlls, all I want is my money back. During our presentation at this resort we agreed upon a deal where they would purchase our timeshare with Vacation Villas at Fantasy World in Florida. They have not completed the transfer. I believe they never had any intention of doing so. My advise to anyone concerned is to get your free whatever and get out of there as quickly as possible. The sells rep we talked to was Drew Shalble. The main reason I purchased from the was to get out from under the timeshare in Florida. I have tried talking to Vida Vacations, they have said they will get back to me - I have not heard anything.

When a timeshare sales office agrees to take your existing timeshare and provide a credit against the purchase price of their new timeshare, they provide a form designed and published by the timeshare transfer service to the Buyer. The Buyer normally is required to make two payments: (1) a fee to list the relinquished timeshare; and (2) another fee to complete the transfer.

Your complaint implies you didn't receive any communication from the timeshare transfer service. There should be a telephone number and email address on the form provided by the timeshare transfer service.

Your complaint also didn't mention whether you had provided the initial payment to list the property. Normally the timeshare transfer service contacts the client (you) within 60 days of receipt of documentation from the new timeshare property.

Vida Vacation Privileges for Grand Mayan Cabo

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We purchased a vacation package for $2000 in June of 2014 for the Grand Mayan in Cabo San Lucas. It was a heavy sales pitch which included a tour, leading us to believe the package we bought was for this resort.

Attempted to find available weeks at this Mayan resort but no weeks ever available. Also at the time of purchase we were told it included a two year vacation membership, now they want another $99/year to stay active saying we did not pay in one year, so now we lose our "signature week".

We are hesitant to dish out more money and not get a vacation unit where and when we desire. Basically it appears to be a big RIP OFF!

According to your complaint you checked all 52 weeks during the year, and none of the timeshares were available during any week of the year. There are usually available weeks after Holy Week (before the summer season begins) and in October and November.

I believe you checked availability only for those weeks you wanted to vacation, and it is unclear when you checked for availability.

If you want to use your timeshare membership program, you need to book close to a year in advance. You are competing with other timeshare membership owners for availability.

Guest

VIDA Vacations is a complete RIPOFF and a SCAM. Please visit & LIKE our new FB page at VIDA VACATION SCAMS. We are a "Free" dedicated page to assist those who fell victim to these criminals!

Guest

Your competition for your $2000 membership package are 50 other people who purchased the same product. For each 51 $2000 package purchased, the developer allocates one unit for occupancy.

Thus, if you prefer to travel between January 1st and March 31st, you have a 25% chance of success.

You might be stuck with low season (such as late November and early December). To obtain a desirable week (such as mid-January), you need to request your week about 11 months prior to the anticipated travel date.

Original review Dec 28, 2015
We got scammed at the airport by Mayan Resorts by their staff posing to be people of authority. We got asked a whole bunch of questions and were promised tickets to Chitcenitza after attending a seminar at a new hotel.

We ended up going, but instead of a few hours, it took us about half the day where they smoozed us into buying a timeshare for about $20,000 USD. They told us we can rent out the timeshare to make money and they sent us a list of rental companies that could rent for us. They turned out to be scammers themselves. We weren't able to rent out the timeshare at all.

We do not want to continue to pay for the timeshare and they simply sent us a cancellation request forfeiting all the money we have paid to them and to retract all past negative activity.

Someone by the name of George keeps leaving messages to call him back, but we keep getting a fax machine when we do call back. We simply want our money back and leave this nightmare behind.

Your mistake was in going to Mexico to begin with. Why would anyone do that?

You also need to learn how to stand up to high pressure sales techniques from itinerant salesmen. Now you know. This is how we learn.

Consider your money long gone. They count on that, don't you know?

They offer money back but you can only use it on things you don't want and concierge and reception said they don't know what the sales person offered. They really manage to make believe that you can use the benefits within the resort and is a lie. No one in the resort knows or they play dam .

I have to say that all in all, the company has made me very happy and have done a full refund. I have gotten all my questions answered and all is a happy ending. They are considerate of the feelings and emotions that come to play so that you do have a good outcome.

Original review Jun 19, 2015
I have to say that I am extremely upset. On June 9th, my family and I were downtown Puerto Vallarta eating lunch when a lady in the restaurant asked us to do her a favor and let her speak to us about something. She proceeded to ask my husband if we would be willing to meet so that we may see a hotel and that she may earn a commission as this was only her first week on the job. My husband thought about it but did not answer her. She asked if he would be willing to speak to her supervisor? He showed up in minutes and said that we needed to pay $80 ($20 a piece) and that we would be reimbursed this as well as a $100 gift certificate to the restaurant. We said ok with the intention that we were not going to purchase anything. My family and I were at our hotel and picked up at 9 am on Thursday, June 11th and we were taken to one place and they were speaking in Spanish. My husband understood what they said, that we would not qualify nor we what they were looking for. They proceeded to put us in a brand new Nissan Taxi and said they would take us to the place that would work for us. I can say that I was scared, I had absolutely no idea where they were taking us. They could have done anything. We finally get to the other hotel at 10:45 (over the original suggested 1 1/2 hours agreed to) and then Marko started taking us through the entire park asking all kinds of questions. He then took us for breakfast at 11:25 am and then afterwards we went to see the different types of hotel rooms and then we saw a video of the Cirque de Soleil that was being built. After repeatedly advising that we could not afford this, explaining that I had in fact been in the hospital for surgeries two years in a row and then had home repairs to complete to keep our home up, they kept pushing and pushing. The original contract that they wanted us to buy was for $43,000 ??? like we have that kind of money, they finally came up with one that was “only” $15,000”, still out of our price range. I finally sad no one last time and they had us speak to Leo. I thought this was over as we had already planned on meeting family members at 12:30, but my son was able to advise them that it had to be pushed back to 1:30 pm instead, which neither Marko or Leo seemed to care, as we had yet to say yes. Marko took us to another table and Leo did not do anything but push us more. At this time it was 3 pm, we were going on 6 hours of being there when we felt like we were never going to leave, we ultimately said ok. We did not want this, nor could we afford this as we had stated so many times. At the end of this we were signing papers and Crystal said that we were going to be taped and could we answer a few questions, now it is almost 4 pm and we are still there. We said Marko was wonderful and on and on and on in hopes to get out of there quicker. Now I am informed that my husbands employer is selling the company and there is a good possibility that he is not going to have a job. I have trying to comprehend how a company can treat people in this way. This is totally inhumane. I can say that I will NOT step foot onto their grounds (Bliss, Grand Bliss, Grand Mayan and Grand Luxxe (all in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico Puerto Vallarta) no matter where it is and I will tell people no matter where I am how upsetting this has been for me and my family. I do not wish to be associated with a company of your caliber that only feels like it has to “threaten” people in order for them to obtain more business. I cannot believe that this happened to us. I hope that someone there has the ability to make this right by cancelling our contract and I will be cancelling the credit card that we were given. If I don’t receive any resolution to this circumstance, I will post this entire segment on the reviews and make sure that everyone knows what we have gone through in an attempt to stop others from being taken and placed into this situation. This was mentioned multiple times and should not have gone this far. I would believe that this is how you treat all of you new customers, amazingly you are still in business. Why would anyone ever consider a partnership with VIDA Vacations, they wouldn't, they have to be threatened first. Perez Family

The same thing happened to me the day before. It was one person after another playing good guy bad guy using intimidation, lack of food and playing on a person's inability to think when there are significant issues at home that are causing havoc with making major decisions.

The word "no" used numerous times got me no where. I wanted a taxi and I wanted to get out. The lies, half truths, lack of explanation and continual pressure wears a person down. I don't want anything to do with this "club" which was my "free" gift.

They are ruthless and evil. I wish I had been warned and was able to research before I went.

Google "Vida vacation complaints" or "Grand Mayan complaints" and see what has happened to others. You will have to post your story on a number of sites.

"Customer service" will follow up to try and pacify you. Stick to your guns and demand a full refund. You very well may get it. Vida hates bad publicity.

The sales people are vermin. The resorts are beautiful and the customer service people want to keep complaints to a minimum.

Be persistent and you will win. Good luck.

Hello, who would I need to contact because the deal they offered us is not what we got. We signed up for 25 weeks of being able to use all resorts at anytime and being able to choose 1-3 rooms. Now looking at it majority of their resorts only have 2 rooms max. Plus we are not able to use the promised time. I would like for someone from this company to properly explain it. We stuck around for their sales pitch and explained to them that I was sick and needed my money for more pressing matters. A huge plurality of the hotel/timeshare buildings offer a maximum of 2 bedrooms. Your review states you were seeking 3 rooms.

The living room has sofas, which convert to beds.

Thus, the 2 bedroom units provide 3 sleeping rooms, plus the kitchen and restrooms. Another option would be to reserve a 2 bedroom and a studio unit (on the same floor).

The Grand Mayan - Vacation Ownership Review from Vancouver, British Columbia

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
When we arrived at our grand mayan timeshare in PV, we were directed to a lady to get our wrist bands. What she really wanted to do was to book an appointment for a "review" of our time share agreement and to "update" us on what is going on with "our" property. Of course she offered 10% on room charges etc. she also would not take "no" for an answer. On the day, after having breakfast, including looking at our sales person's picture of his wife and new baby, he led us to the sales area. Because we had young children, they put us in a play room so that we wouldn't get distracted. I'm sure they loved having the young children around because we were in such a hurry to get out of there that we did not fully pay attention or read the details. We just believed everything the salespeople threw at us. Now we were determined not to buy but they've got pressure sales down to a science. They started by saying that we had this one chance to get a preconstruction price on the "kingdom of the sun" upgrade, and after today this amazing discount would not be offered again. (Btw, when the Kingdom of the sun is complete, anyone can enter the amusement park. Members simply get a discounted rate.) The sales people started off by saying this upgrade was worth 60k, but by buying back your weeks and with the money already invested, the price went down to 17k. What made us interested was them claiming that we would get our maintenance fees refunded back to us. When we questioned how, they said that every dollar we put in as maintenance fees, we would get back on the vida lifestyles website. The salesperson claimed it was like an "American Express rewards" site. She even offered to put in $500 credit. When someone is willing to give money away so easily you should be suspicious. They also claimed that it was like an amazing travel agency with the guaranteed lowest prices. They also compared it to the Sears website, saying we could purchase household goods etc. These statements about vida lifestyles are completely untrue. It is not like a rewards system or other shopping website at all because you only can use the credit as a discount to your purchases. Ie like a coupon. You cannot use it for the entire purchase. You also only have a year to use your credit. As well, unlike a real travel agency, you cannot purchase flights on lifestyles. You don't get your password to this site until 3 months afterwards, so you really can't check out what you have until it is too late. As a selling point they also gave us 10 vouchers that we could distribute. At first they claimed that they couldn't give us these "money-making" vouchers for 3 yrs, but then surprise surprise, because we were so special and lucky, they could give them to us right away. These vouchers are good for a week stay for the price of a day provided that the guest attends a time share meeting. They claim to give the member $300 per guest who uses the voucher as well as a cut of any moneys made from the sale of a timeshare from your guest. Now who would expose any of their friends and family to this same sort of scam?!! Knowing this, the vidante group encourages you to give them to charitable organizations to auction off. They claim, that this will generate on average 17k. Good luck finding any charitable organization wanting any of these vouchers... Let alone 10 of them!! Thank God for this website. After leaving the time share presentation 6 hours later, with contract in hand, I was feeling a bit anxious. I found this website and felt sick to my stomach. I read about the vida lifestyles scam. Thankfully I also read about how incould rescind the contract within 5 days. I missed my outing the next day that I had already payed for so that I could meet someone to rescind this contract. After throwing me to another sales person that offered to take another 5k off the price, they finally agreed to rescind the contract. Even though I wasted 2.5 of my 7d vacation on these terrible people, I am grateful to this website that I didn't lose much much more. Now I tell every and anyone I know not to ever be tempted to attend one of these timeshare meetings or to buy a time share with the Mayan/vidante group.

We greatly appreciate the fact that they contacted us so soon. We had some trouble finding what phone number to call but emails worked very well. We do not plan on joining any vacation clubs in the future but certainly look forward to staying at the Grand Mayan again. It is a beautiful resort with excellent employees, great restaurants, and entertainment. All of the hotels on the property are beautiful. The shuttle that is provided to get around is excellent with very little waiting. No chance of being bored here. We loved it!

We just wrote our complaint yesterday and today we were contacted by Vacation Privileges (Grand Mayan) and they have satisfactorally resolved all of our issues. Thank you to all.

Original review Sep 01, 2015
Stayed at Grand Mayan and went on their tour of property. At end of 8 hour tour we were exhausted. Our guide led us toward the exit and a man with a desk set up in lobby asked our guide if he told us about returned properties. This salesman told us he had a returned unit that the owner turned in because of non-payment. Offered us unit for under $5000 and said we would be able to stay at Grand Mayan or Mayan Palace in 2bed 2bath unit twice a year. Also told us not to tell anyone about this great deal since he could not offer it to any other customers. When tried to book we found out that what we bought was a travel arrangement membership that was not owned by Grand Mayan (Vidante) properties. Could only book us for two small hotel rooms. What a total ripoff. Not only that but wanted to charge us $831 for each hotel room for a week, We already belonged to another vacation club and stayed at the Grand Mayan for $799 2bed 2 bath. Why in the world would we buy into another vacation club? Totally feel this company and possibly the grand mayan are totally dishonest and are commiting crimes against unsuspecting people.

This happened to me also, I thought I bought 2 weeks at the Grand Mayan in a 2 bedroom turns out I got 3 weeks in a 2 bedroom if I pay the extra booking fee. I don't know how the salesman messed that up!

We are just finding out that THIS is exactly what happened to us!

Thought we were buying a timeshare into the Grand Mayan, kept calling and calling because they had never sent the packet promised only to now find out that this vacation privileges plan isn't even part of the Grand Mayan and it is basically air. They said that we could exchange weeks...not true!

You have to log onto another website and basically pay more than you you'd have to pay a travel agent for the same trip....on top of the fee you paid to the Grand Mayan. A total rip off!!!
