Lost earings

My wife left her earrings in the soap tray in our bathroom when we checked out (forgot them) I called and was put on hold several times for significant amounts of time. When I finally spoke to a lady about our loss, she (Lady was her name) She asked me to call her back in an hour, to which I did and she said no one turned them in. I called later in the day to check back in and Lady said still no earrings!

Contact information

I have been dealing with a lady from your organization named Ana Gabriela Cazares. She had been working with me on a third party rental agreement involving the time share weeks I own under contract number CGPB 0642.

I wire transferred $4,750 for booking 5 weeks. I asked for a guarantee that if the deal fell through she would refund my money (including the subsequent Mexican tax fee on the deal of $5,000).

I have a copy of the guarantee and have asked her to begin the process of returning my money.

But, she will no longer take my calls or return my emails. I am hoping someone else can help so that I don't have to take legal action.

Totally Dissatisfied/Scam

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

In November 2021, my husband and I went to the Grand Mayan for Vacation. However, we were scheduled for a presentation a day after our arrival.

We were promised a free cruise, amazing hotel stays, etc. While I was there, I noticed several items on the contract within the 24 hours. I contacted the company and explained that I wanted to void the contract, since it was not on the up and up. I did receive a call back, but it just never seemed that we could never catch up with each other.

Since that time, I have attempted to utilize the website to book hotels and cruises, to no avail. The representative promised us four star hotel stays, and vacations, free cruise, etc. Trust me, IT IS ALL A "SCAM". My husband and I spent $2,500.00 on something that we can not use.

The hotel stays were rated 2 stars at best. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau as soon as possible. Each time I have contacted the company to speak with a manager or supervisor, no one ever returns the call. This company should not be allowed to exist or operate in this manner.

It is not a professional establishment. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS PURCHASE, IT IS A MAJOR SCAM !!!!

Me estafaron con promesas falsas y me cobraron $676 dolares por nada y no quede ni una noche.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Months in advance I called the reservation line of Vidanta of Mayan Palace to make a reservation for me as an owner of my time share. I was informed that I first needed to pay for the year's maintenance fee of $676.79 which I did pay in order to make the reservation a month in advance for my one week stay at Mayan Palace in the Marina of Puerto Vallarta. When I arrived on my agreed upon reserved week starting Nov 13, 2020, I found the hotel was closed and was told by the guard I could not stay there. Two people representing Vidanta Berenice Bautista and Basilio Frias , came out of the building and informed me that they could take me to the grand Mayan in the next state. When I told them that I didn't want to go there because it is too far from Puerto Vallarta where my friends were scheduled to meet me, they said it would be only for an "update on new things that are offered for owners like myself". When I said I didn't have time for that, they offered me a free round trip ticket back to Puerto Vallarta for two being I just spent that money getting there for nothing. Plus a one week stay at the Grand Mayan and a reimbursement of my maintenance fee. All that with no obligation to pay for any upgrade or other costs if I just attended a ONE HOUR presentation of new features offered by Vidanta. They put it in writing for me, and said they could arrange for me to be picked up the following morning and taken to the Grand Mayan for a free breakfast. The next morning two men came to my newly acquired hotel and once again handed me in writing the above mentioned offer with NO obligaton to purchase anything. When I arrived at the Grand Mayan I was introduced to various Promotors such as Francisco Alejandro Villa and Jaime Lozano. As I sat down at the breakfast table in the area exclusively reserved for sales promotions, I was once again given in writing the promises of a one week stay at the Grand Mayan, 2 round trip tickets from my town in the USA to Puerto Vallarta, and the reimbursement of my maintenance fee for the reservation that I never received. The "one hour of presentation" of the" irresistible features" of the upgraded membership turned into 5 and 1/2 hours of arm twisting reasons why I need to pay an additional $20,000 from my credit card in order to take advantage of the offers! On several occasions during the long winded talk I told the promotor that I had to leave and that they also offered me a free taxi back to my hotel. But I was ignored and a signal that if they didn't get a large sum of additional money I could not safely leave the facility. Finally after asking the location of the rest rooms, I took a right turn to the elevators and made a dash for the street and flagged down a taxi back to safety. At this point, in order for me to modify my negative feelings about Vidanta, they would have to make good on their promised "free offers". Hence, I will continue with my story and hope others will be better informed about the dangers of the Vidanta experience and also share with me their negative experiences. Perhaps a class action law suit is in order..

The Grand Con at Grand Mayan, Vida Resorts.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Oh boy, our 90 minute breakfast timeshare presentation at Vida Vacation Resorts at Riviera Maya turned into an six hour ordeal. It is quite the con job, they must have read our facebook page because all of sudden our saleperson had the same type of dog as us, same car and then they brought in his fiancé who actually said she worked in the next town over for 6 months but could not remember any restaurant names. Then as we toured the display unit all of a sudden a very beautiful couple dressed to the max with lots of bling came strolling in saying how this will be their third unit that they are buying … crazy con game going on. Who dress up on a timeshare tour in Mexico? Then the hard sell starts, with various managers coming in with special deals only good for the day, they had to reach their sales quota, throw in this and that for free,,,,, it all just sounded almost to good to be true. Trade In – Trade Up is another con they will present you with ~ trade in your current timeshare at a premium price guaranteed and buy an up graded one from them for the same guaranteed selling price. Unfortunately you will never be able to sell your current unit at what they promise, all it is a website that you pay a fee to list your timeshare. They will also tell you that you can rent your Grand Bliss unit out for $1500 a week, it will pay for itself in two to three years plus you get 1 Vida dollar for every $1 USA dollar to use at the resort. Vida dollars are so discounted it is not even worth the trouble, plus with the huge mark ups on the food and booze it is senseless. You will be promised an upgraded to the Grand Bliss from the regular Bliss for just $XXX amount, it’s a bargain, never seen before. They also like to through in for free two extra free weeks for the first five years, but once you check in there are many fees, taxes, etc…. Then they really starting laying it in hard, they are building in Hawaii and we can trade in anytime, trade in and get points to go to VIP sport games and concerts, on and on ….. all half truths and many outright lies. By the time we got back to our home there was a collection agency notice requiring full payment of the timeshare or they will take legal action. Luckily we cancelled the very next day.

Fraud?

The Grand Mayan - Fraud?
10/17/18 We are members of Grand Mayan We wanted to upgrade our membership Went to meeting, negotiations took place. Sales person told me to put my offer in writing. I did. Salesman assisted with making sure I had everything discussed. After a short time salesman came back and said congratulations, they accepted your offer. My written offer was stamped approved and initialed. He came back with documents to sign and was not as was approved. I bedroom instead of 2 bedroom deluxe at Celebrate Club All addendums as previous contract. 7 weeks- 2 red, 2 holiday 4 international weeks When I questioned this I was told I was wrong Then I presented a copy of my offer stamped approved Then the started making ridiculous offers. I said I want what they approved. They said no they could not do that. I asked for my credit card and ID back Took over an hour to get my ID and credit card Kept sending us to different places, finally I said if I do not get my credit card and I’d back Now I am calling the police. It was finally returned. What can be done? It is the principle now. I want what was approved. I lost a whole day of vacation and got the runaround at the resort when I asked for the person in charge of sales. Never being given a name.

Grand Mayan horrible experience.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I was recovering from cancer, and specifically a stem cell transplant when I attended an intense, many hour sales presentation at Grand Mayan. Long story short, every time I started to leaved, they kept offering better deals. Exhausted, I believed their lies and gave them $20. 6 weeks later (how long it took to gain full membership-access to their system), I realized I’d been had. I immediately protested, to no avail. Several years later, I managed to retrieve 5K only when I agreed to a much depleted membership. I HAVE NEVER STAYED THERE. I am nearly 80 years old. I have had endured a 2nd bout of cancer. I have pleaded with them because I desperately need my money back (Instead they offered me a trip to Europe, when it is obvious I’m unable to travel). I’ve never used their facilities. I find them heartless.

Scan copies of all documents. Send all scanned documents to PROFECO, along with a detailed letter (c.c.

the Grand Mayan).

PROFECO will review your documents and determine whether the stamped hand written statement is a contract, under Mexican law. I suspect the legal issues are: (1) did the person who stamped your statement "approved" have authority to obligate Grand Mayan under Mexican Law; and (2) is "approved" interchangeable with "accepted" under Mexican Law.

If I understand your complaint, you were well enough to accept the lovely buffet breakfast and gifts, yet far too ill to be held accountable for your actions. Article 56 provides 5 business days (not 6 weeks) to rescind your decision to purchase a timeshare.

Happy Vacations!

I was recovering from cancer treatment was understably exhausted and feeling ill by end of that long day. Yes, they give 5 days to rescind BUT you don’t receive authorization to get into the system to actually see the plan for much much longer.

Absolutely no buffet or any such thing was a part of the presentation. You know absolutely nothing of my experience, but seem to have the strange belief that you do.

Really! Try and book your vacation.

Today is July 01,2017 and after approximately two hours and fifty minutes on the telephone we as "MEMBERS" are completely upset. We tried to book 4 weeks in a one bedroom at the Grand Mayan, NV because rule is we have to book 6 months in advance.

THEY REFUSED! We are permitted to book our registered week six months in advance, but only the "registered" week. The other weeks have to be booked 4 months in advance. We live in Canada and if we book a vacation we must have a guarantee that we have a place to stay.

We have to book our airline ticket and need CONFIRMED dates. Last year we booked 5 weeks without issue. My opinion is since Vida started to market Cirque du Soleil they find having "timeshare members" an accommodation issue. We were needed to fund their business, for instance; they sold us a Bliss membership before the ground was broken.

They GUARANTEED it would be ready for the following year. DID NOT HAPPEN.

Today they sent the following confirmation and I attach to prove that we are not scam artists (more than I can say for the Vida conglomeration. Reservation Number: Nights Stay: 7 Check-In Date: 05:00 PM CST 01/01/2018 Unit Type: The Grand Mayan One Bedroom Suite Check-Out Date: 10:00 AM CST 01/08/2018 Guest Name: Destination: The Grand Mayan Nuevo Vallarta

Did the week you attempted to book include New Year's Day? Are you an ELITE owner (First-Serve is reserved for Christmas, New Years, and Easter Holy Week).

If you are a RED owner, you are not automatically entitled to book those time periods, however, as the designated date comes closer, RED members are allowed to book those dates with an upgrade fee.

Didn't Vidanta Resorts offer some form of compensation for their inability to open your purchased building according to schedule? If not, ask for a certificate (it is included in The VidaLifestyle webpage.

It has occurred to me that in early July you may have been attempting to book adjacent weeks after the two confirmed weeks referenced in your complaint.

If so, those weeks (according to Vidanta rules) cannot be booked until 6 months before the date of usage. So you should request those weeks later in the moth.

Guest

At Vidanta Resorts (aka Vida Vacations) your purchase package includes Registered Weeks and Privilege Weeks. Vidanta can sell a unit 51 times (there are 52 weeks in a year).

You are assuming you have a right to occupy any of the units at any Vidanta location within your tier (Grand Luxxe, Grand Bliss, Bliss Resorts (only available at certain locations), the Grand Mayan, and Mayan Palace). Vidanta sells each Registered Week 51 times. Thus, you have up to 50 competitors for each registered week occupancy. You might want to travel during week 7 (February), but the first available unassigned week may be in week 13.

Vidanta enters into contracts with organizations like Expedia.com and Bookings.com, with a guarantee to make a specific number of units available at a specific price (there are multiple variables in price determination).

From the total number of units constructed and maintained, Vidanta: (1) subtracts the registered week intervals, (2) subtracts the units assigned for Vidanta promotions; and (3) subtracts the units contracted with dot.com and other travel agencies. This leaves the total units on any given week available as Privilege Weeks.

Vidanta may tell you they have no units available for occupancy.

If you contact them at a later date, some of those unavailable units may become available.

Vidanta's contract with the dot.coms and other travel agencies in all probability includes a provision where the travel agency may relinquish unsold units at various predetermined intervals. As those units are relinquished by the travel agency, they become available as Privilege Weeks.

Over time fewer Privilege Weeks will be available at any given location, as more Registered Weeks are sold.

Re: The Grand Mayan aka Vidanta Riviera Maya: Felt like prison at Times

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
The 'compound' grounds were beautiful, food was great, people were friendly, but when it came to getting around, or getting directions, and/or getting your car, it was a disgrace. Felt like I was a prisoner within the compound. Shuttles, Color-Coded, were frequent, but when you call concierge or driver of a shuttle to ascertain how to get from Point A to Point B was maddening and not always told the same Color Shuttle to get to A to B. It felt like mass transit in slow motion and no air conditioning. Also, all rooms at The Grand Mayan that faced the Shuttle path/street, was LOUD as Shuttles ran from 7am until after midnight. Felt like we were on a freeway. We asked to be moved across the hall to the side where there was no Shuttle transports all a.m./p.m. We were told at 10am that the Room across the Hall was vacated. We were not allowed to actually 'move' our luggage, etc. until after 5pm! Also, our car was NOT kept at The Grand Mayan Hotel where we stayed. (There are five hotels within the compound.) Cars were held at a separate lot and two Shuttles had to be taken to get to your car. Insane. We had to take TWO shuttles each time/way to get/return our car. Also, each time, both ways, it was intimated we had to 'tip'. Again, insane. Coming and going from the compound, was like being interrogated. We had to check-in and check-out at a gated entrance each time. Vidanta did NOT provide a rearview mirror tag to designate a vehicle parked in compound to make coming and going much smoother. We would always have to repeat our room number multiple times because Attendants at entry/departure gate did not always know single-digit English numbers, such as 1-5-6-3. Again, insane. We have been to playa del Carmen over six different trips. Vidanta is not an all inclusive property. We/I will never return to this property. Also, beach area was full of corral and not appropriate for getting in water in most places, except the immediate shoreline of about one foot of water.

Lol I want to go to a jail and show these complaints about a luxury resort being like prison to someone in an actual jail. They'd get a kick out of it.

How petty and privileged can you be.

You're in MEXICO. Deal with it

Have to totally agree, vidanta is a tourist prision. I'm a ultra runner, and I knocked over several people trying to run their pathetic "running trails" it was like containing a cheetah in a cage with a bunch of small animals, of course someone was going to get hurt.

Guest

So Vidanta Resorts is like a prison. I have visited a distant relative in prison, and his accommodations were far less luxurious than any of Vidanta's compounds. I agree that ground transportation is slow at Vidanta's Mayan Riviera property, but when I am on vacation I'm in no hurry.

Grand Mayan Timeshare Scam

My wife and I were on vacation in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, and stayed at The Grand Mayan . We went to a timeshare presentation. Unfortunately I felt for it and I am very sorry that I attend to their 90 minutes presentation, which turned out to be more like 5 hours of high pressure selling strategy they use to sell one of their units. We paid them 6500 and our relatives paid them 5500. When we were to return to the States we were supposed to send a wire for an additional 2500.We were desperate for help once we arrived home from Mexico and found out we had been scammed. One day, my wife found the services of Mexican Timeshare Solutions online while trying to find someone who would rent our Grand Mayan weeks. We were tired of having to keep paying the monthly maintenance fee as it was like throwing good money after bad. The process took about 6 months but my timeshare contract is cancelled. I did verify the cancellation directly with the resort before submitting payment to Mexican Timeshare Solutions. Fortunately we are free from this contract. DO NOT ATTEND ANY PRESENTATIONS AT THE GRAND MAYAN, MAYAN PALACE OR ANY RESORTS OWNED BY VIDANTA/VIDA VACATIONS. THEIR SOLE PURPOSE IS TO RUN TIMESHARE/VACATION PACKAGE SCAMS

Grand Mayan Timeshare Scam

We purchased a timeshare at the Grand Mayan San Jose Del Cabo . Upon receiving our papers we noticed there were many fees involved that we were not made aware of.

The sales representative misrepresented what the contract/membership entailed. we had been trying to get out of the timeshare and they were saying its too late to cancel it. Seeking legal means of timeshare contract cancellation. we found a company called Mexican Timeshare Solutions that seemed reliable, Very skeptical about our latest experience.

we decided to contact them. The process was very simple; I provided them with everything they needed and cooperated with them to help them do their job.

They were always quick to answer my e-mails and phone calls in a very friendly, professional manner. Fortunately we got and we are free of maintenances fees.

When your contract was signed, didn't you sign or initial each page itemizing the fees? If so, how can you say you were not made aware of these fees?

I understand the presentations and price negotiation frequently consume 4 to 7 hours of your time. However, it is your responsibility to thoroughly review any and all documents requiring your signature.

DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
The Grand Mayan - DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM

The Vidanta Group, Vida Vacations, Mayan Palace and Vacation Privileges people are not to be trusted and are among the best I have ever seen at separating you and your hard earned money. I have all the documentation to prove this and will provide it to anyone who emails me.

My wife and I were accosted in early October 2015 at the Rental Car place (Thrifty) in Cancun. A mild mannered guy was very smooth and got us to go to a sales presentation at Vidanta, south of Cancun. My wife and I should have been smarter, we are both well educated technical people who know better. We attended a high pressure sales meeting at the resort having charged several thousand dollars to AMEX and owing tens of thousands more to Vidanta and Vida Vacations. That night we felt sick and I got on line and did research. I learned that there is a Mexican LAW that there is a three day window where these contracts can be null and void. We returned to the resort and after 2 hours we talked to the proper people and we nullified everything except for the AMEX Bill. They then sent us upstairs to the sales floor to talk to one more guy. They then sold us something that sounded good at the time. It was a vacation privileges account. At that time they threw in a week at the Mayan Palace Cancun. We booked it then and there (see attached screenshot from my VP account) Booked on October 15, 2015. We paid then and there as well.

We received the company materials and we signed up for a split week at Puerto Penasco Mayan Palace in January and just used that this past weekend. I was pleasantly surprised at the stay there. However, upon our return I opened up my account and learned that they cancelled the March 20 visit to Cancun which we had given to our daughter and her husband for her college graduation. So 3 days away from them flying to Cancun and no word from company and they cancelled our booking WHICH WAS PAID. Multiple phone calls to both Vacation Privileges and Mayan Palace in Cancun and stilll no explanation. I spent all day yesterday afternoon on the phone with nobody willing, able or capable of explaining how they can take my money and cancel this with NO NOTIFICATION.

I called the Mayan Palace yesterday and was transferred literally to 8 different people who were simply incapable of fixing this mess. They took my money and I expect them to honor the signed agreement and reinstate this vacation but time is running short.
